Hello and welcome to my first ever blog post!!
So, I thought that seeing as this is my first ever blog (and I don't really know what I'm meant to be doing), I'd introduce myself and tell you all a little bit about how Lily & Giraffe first started!
I'm Helen, I'm married with two girls and I love house rabbits (we have 6), tattoos (I have 3 with more planned) and fabric (I have a large hoard!).
I also have a degree in Molecular Plant Biology, something that always surprises people when I tell them, and I used to be a Microbiologist for a FTSE 100 company before I started Lily & Giraffe.
I come from a crafty family, both my Granny and Mum have sewed and it was my Mum who helped me nail the basics. My first ever project was sewing curtains up for my eldest daughters doll house and I'm glad to say my sewing skills have much improved and grown since then!
Lily & Giraffe began when I was unable to return to my job after my maternity leave for my youngest ended. My new business gave me something to focus on and to use up some of my ever growing fabric stash. I love bright and colourful fabrics and love that they give the traditional style of my clothing a modern twist.
Lily & Giraffe has grown over the last four years to be bigger than I ever thought it could be and hopefully will continue to grow in the future. I love what I do and that it allows me to be home for my children and needless to say, my fabric addiction has continued to grow!
